Born and raised in Marinwood, California, Kelly Case is survived by her parents Pam and Cameron, older brother, Chris and younger sister, Meghan.
Kelly attended Dixie Elementary, Miller Creek Middle School and Terra Linda H.S. Her education continued on to the University of California at San Diego, Eleanor Roosevelt College where she received her B.A. in Psychology in 1998. While at UCSD, she spent a quarter in Belize studying the ecosystem. After graduating from UCSD, Kelly continued her education at Dominican University in the Teacher Education Program. She received her teaching credential from the State of California. At the time of her illness Kelly was enrolled in a masters program at San Diego State University with a focus on how to teach math.
Kelly always had a love for children. There was never any doubt growing up that she would become a teacher. Summers were spent working as a swim lesson instructor and day camp counselor through the Marinwood CSD and YMCA. She actually met her future husband, Ryan Moulton, on a ski trip with the YMCA.
She absolutely loved the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, kayaking, swimming, surfing, hiking, running Bay to Breakers, skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing.
After earning her teaching credential she moved back to San Diego. Her last teaching job was at Woodrow Wilson Middle School. During that time she and Ryan were married and bought a house in La Mesa, California.
The most important thing in Kelly’s life was her family and friends, the highlight being her three nieces, Meredith Case, Courtney and Kayla Moulton, and her nephew, Mitchell Case.
On September 24, 2007, Kelly passed away after a eight month courageous battle fighting ovarian cancer at the age of 31.
Her family and friends all miss her greatly. It is through Kelly's Wishes that we keep Kelly's spirit alive.
